Hipster Parents Win Award for Turning 6-Year-Old Daughter Into a 'Boy'

I always wanted to be a rock star, but I can't sing, play guitar or dance.
I've always felt in my heart that I was meant to be a rock star nonetheless.
So I've made a decision.
From now on, I'm going to dress like Elvis, and everybody must refer to me as "the King" and buy my records. Women everywhere must swoon when I enter the room, and when I "perform," everybody must applaud, even if I sing off key and flub my guitar solo.
Anyone who fails to comply will be bullied, called names, possibly sued and be forever labeled a whatever-phobe you would be if you hate phony rock stars.
I will receive several Grammys because I am such an inspiration to talentless would-be musicians everywhere.
Does any of that sound reasonable to you?
No, I didn't think so.
So how is it in any way reasonable to give an "inspiration award" to a couple who have tried very hard to turn their 6-year-old daughter into a "boy"?

Obama's Chief of Disinformation Resigns

Maybe it proved to be too much strain for Jay Carney. There's only so much a person can take, even if that person is a dyed-in-the-government-issued-wool, communist-poster-collecting hardcore leftist fibber.
There was no tale, no matter how preposterous, that Carney wouldn't spin for his boss, President Obama, or any of the White House rogues gallery.

Carney was Obama's Mouth of Sauron, Baghdad Bob, Goebbels and Emily Litella all rolled into one.

Let them eat yellowcake

Life is nothing if not exciting under President Obama. Thanks to his skillful guidance and foreign policy of bowing to petty dictators, we now live in a world where even the meekest of countries feels empowered to defy international law, common sense and plain old decency.

Case in point this week is Zimbabwe, a formerly weak and ineffectual country in Africa. But no more. Now, little Zimbabwe is feeling its oats and is ready to defy the big bad world.

Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Zimbabwe's foreign minister, has declared the United Nation's ban on selling nuclear materials to Iran unjust.

According to an intelligence report released by the UN's nuclear agency, Zimbabwe is planning to give yellowcake uranium to Iran in return for refined fuel.

Iran already has a deal with Russia to supply it with fuel, so the benefit to Iran of dealing with Zimbabwe is open to speculation, but it's guaranteed not to be good for anyone else.

While the Obama administration fiddles in the Middle East, Zimbabwe, which is already under its own UN sanctions for human rights abuses, is testing its boundaries and finding them weak indeed.

No doubt the Left will handle this with its usual nuanced sophistication. There must be another Left-wing lackey, er, ambassador, who can jet over to Zimbabwe, talk to one or two government flacks over drinks and oysters and report back that it's all made up. ...

Or maybe Obama can just bow to Robert Mugabe. It's served us so well up to this point.

Obama knew

Comparisons of Barack Obama to Jimmy Carter are all too easy these days, with Egypt apparently going the way Iran did under President Carter's benign neglect.

But for all the evidence that would tend to paint Obama as Carter II, there's a crucial, even sinister difference that was made clear in congressional hearings on Thursday.

Obama had ample forewarning of the uprisings in Egypt.

Don't expect this to be played up in Obama's hip-pocket media, but according to the Associated Press:

Top CIA official Stephanie O'Sullivan told senators Thursday that Obama was warned of instability in Egypt "at the end of last year." She spoke during a confirmation hearing to become the deputy director of national intelligence.

Our president had at least a month's heads-up about the trouble brewing in Egypt, and presumably Tunisia -- which was being organized on Facebook long before any merchant lit himself on fire, the incident the White House is saying started the whole Middle East ruckus.

Despite that knowledge, and knowing that the Muslim Brotherhood was involved up to its elbows, the president still used his State of the Union speech to encourage Tunisian rioters, whom he characterized as "pro-democracy." The anti-Mubarak faction in Egypt is similarly being classified by the White House, and the liberal press, as pro-democracy, despite the ample and clear evidence that the violence is fueled by the radical Muslim Brotherhood for the purpose of installing a hard-line sharia state.

When George W. Bush was in office, the Left tried to connect him to 9/11 by virtue of his having received an intelligence briefing months before the fact that Muslims were up to something somewhere in the U.S. Many on the Left used that flimsy excuse to call for Bush's impeachment (the first of many such calls).

But now we have a president briefed a month ahead of the fact, publicly encouraging the rioters and deliberately ignoring the involvement of radical Muslims. And now, Obama has welcomed the Muslim Brotherhood into Egypt's interim government.

Carter let Iran fall due to his own stupidity and naivete about the Muslim rebels. Bush failed to stop 9/11 because of a communication breakdown in the intelligence agencies.

But our current president's actions raise an ominous question: Did Obama want this to happen?

Someone Give Obama a Fiddle

While the world watches Egypt exploding in revolution and holds its breath as the conflagration threatens to spread throughout the Middle East, President Obama was naturally occupied with ... dancing.

On Saturday night, Obama and several of his cabinet members boogied down at the going away party for senior adviser David Axelrod, the administration's own spinmeister.

And just in case you were wondering why you haven't heard about this in the mainstream media, that's because most of the journalistic bigwigs were at the party with Obama, including names like ABC's Jake Tapper, NBC's Chuck Todd, National Journal's Major Garrett, and John Harwood of CNBC and the New York Times, according to White House reporter Keith Koffler.

If that doesn't convince you that the media are in Obama's pocket, bear in mind that the party was hosted at the home of Linda Douglass, former ABC reporter who joined the Obama administration to push the health care bill, now VP at Atlantic Media.

Hosni Mubarak was not invited.

NAACP plays hide the cracker

It's long been obvious to many Americans that some of the most virulently racist groups in the country are those on the Left that trumpet their "struggle" against racism.

Take the case in point: the NAACP.

Formed supposedly to defend civil rights of black Americans, the NAACP long ago turned into a pack of ultraliberal, race-baiting wolves.

This past Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, was supposed to be a celebration of King's dream of real racial equality. Instead, the NAACP showed just how far this country has to go.

In Columbia, S.C., a gathering for MLK day was held on the steps of the statehouse, which are dominated by a bronze statue of George Washington. The NAACP built a giant box around the statue so attendees wouldn't be "offended."

Here are some pictures.

So the NAACP, which is so self-righteous it passed a resolution demanding that the Tea Party eliminate "racist elements" supposedly in its midst, has members who are so offended by America's first president that they have to put a box over him?

It's hard to guess which element offends more NAACP members: that Washington was American or that he was white. The smart money would cover both bases.

There's a Bible passage the NAACP (and the rest of the Left, for that matter) should consider. It starts, "remove the plank from your own eye. ..."
